Sublument was born out of a desire to create something visually extraordinary.

After discovering the enchanting world of light-painting in 2017, the artist behind Sublument was inspired to explore this art form deeply. This technique involves taking photos in complete darkness with a moving light source, such as flashlights, to create intricate patterns and designs. The result is a mesmerizing blend of light and shadow that captures the imagination. The hidden shores of Salento serve as the ideal backdrop for many of these images, adding a natural frame to the human figures and evoking a sense of place and emotion.

The Creative Process of Sublument

Creating Sublument photo prints involves a meticulous process that combines creativity with technical expertise. The artist begins by selecting a location, often the secluded shores of Salento, where complete darkness provides the perfect canvas for light-painting. Using various light sources, such as flashlights, the artist “paints” with light, creating intricate designs and patterns. The exposure time of the camera is carefully controlled to capture the movement of light, resulting in stunning images that are both ethereal and dynamic.
